Reliable Guide
From the trial balance and the accounting journal, I sometimes learn more than from management and accountants. Year-on-year, month-on-month changes (even when everyone answers the question "What's new?" with "Nothing has changed."), and operations that are not common. These are exactly what we auditors and accountants are looking for.
